The Sumpter Township Board of Trustees announced it would meet in closed-door session at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, to discuss its attorney’s opinion on Republic Waste.
Officials at both Van Buren Township and city of Belleville have announced that Sumpter Township has agreed to join them in a joint lawsuit, with others, against Republic Waste and Sumpter will pitch in $5,000 toward legal costs.
The closed-door session will be held after the Independent’s deadline for this week’s paper, so a report from the Sept. 17 meeting will be published in next week’s edition
