Correction: Tammy Dohring is deputy director at Van Buren Township

On page 15 in the Dec. 14 edition of the Independent, we identified Tammy Dohring with the wrong title. She is Deputy Director of Community Services for Van Buren Township. We said she was Assistant Director of Community Services. We regret the error.
Also, in a Belleville Planning Commission story that started on page one and jumped to page 13 of the Nov. 23 edition, we misspelled the name of Planning Commissioner Julie Kissel, who now is also City Council Member Julie Kissel. We apologize for the error.
Also, the picture of the McBride TerrorBytes was published on page 8 last week with the wrong story and is being republished with the right story today. Apologies.
Also, in the story on page 11 about the man who died in a mobile home fire, we referred to a “male caregiver.” The deceased man’s daughter and the caregiver called us to ask for a correction. They said the caregiver should be referred to as “transwoman.” We apologize.
