On May 3, the Tinsley Family of Contract Welding & Fabricating, Inc. in Belleville celebrated 50 years of business with family, friends, employees, and business associates with a gathering at the Sheraton in Romulus.
Contract Welding has offered quality welding and fabricating services since the company was founded by Harry and Joan Tinsley in April of 1964.
Harry began the business welding heavy equipment in a small shop on Michigan Avenue in Canton, MI where he was the only employee. In the 1970s, he purchased a machine shop and began fabricating refuse equipment, which the company is known for today.
Contract Welding became a family business in the 1980s when they were joined by all three of their children.
Today, the company is run by their youngest son Tom and his wife Sandy, and is located at 385 Sumpter Road in Belleville.
Contract Welding offers repair services along with sales of a variety of refuse equipment including front-load and rear-load containers, roll-off containers, stationary compactors, vertical balers and its trademark dump body, HARDBOX.
The company serves customers across the Midwest, ranging from small independent businesses to major waste haulers.
After 50 years, the business has grown to about 35 employees.
“We would not have been able to attain this milestone without the hard work of so many individuals,” said Tom Tinsley.
“We appreciate the dedicated employees that have supported us throughout the years!”
