The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4434 on Bemis Road announces that its Community Service Project for the Year is “Operation Torn & Tattered.”
VFW Quartermaster Adjutant Ross Medaus said the post has bought $1,000 worth of flags, sizes 3’x4’ and 4’x6’ which they will be giving away free in an exchange for a tattered flag.
He said the VFW will accept the old, damaged flag and will properly retire it by burning, sometimes with Scouts involved.
People wishing to take advantage of the flag swap are invited to call the VFW Post at (734) 697-0505 and leave a clear message, repeating slowly the name of the caller and the phone number. A VFW member will return the call and make arrangements for the swap.
