Van Buren Township Police are asking for the public’s help in the investigation of a robbery/carjacking that took place about 11:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, in the parking lot of the Lake Villa Apartment complex.
The victim, a resident of the complex, told police that while he was parking his vehicle he was approached by three black male suspects, two of whom pointed handguns at him demanding keys to his vehicle.
Public Safety Director Gregory Laurain said, in a news release, that the suspects also demanded the victim’s cell phone which he turned over to them to avoid being harmed.
The three suspects are described as black males, slim build, short hair, and about 6’ to 6’2” in height.
The victim was unharmed and his vehicle was later recovered unoccupied in Ypsilanti.
