At about 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 3, Van Buren Township Police received a report of an attempted child abduction. The Nixle alert issued by the police department that afternoon referred to it as “Stranger Danger.”
A nine-year-old female was walking from the Parkwood apartments to Tyler Elementary School when she was approached by an unknown male.

The assailant is described as a black male, six feet tall, 200 pounds wearing a black ski mask and all black clothing. No vehicles were seen and very little information was immediately available.
