VBT gets deed to former DNR property on the lake

Van Buren Township Supervisor Kevin McNamara framed the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Quick Claim Deed for the DNR lakeside property on Belleville Road, just north of the Belleville Bridge, now owned by the township.
He showed the deed off at the Jan. 15 board of trustees meeting. He said the deed specifies that the land must be a park.
Supervisor McNamara said the quoted price for the property was $750,000, but VBT got it for $22,000, “Quite a deal.” He plans to hang the deed on his office wall.
