A new date for the premier of Season 2 for the “Forged in Fire” series has been released as Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 10 p.m. on the History Channel.
The episode that will feature local blacksmith Chad Osborne will be Tuesday, March 29. He is charged with making a historical weapon, the shotel.
According to Wikipedia, A shotel is a curved sword originating in Abyssinia (ancient Ethiopia).
The shotel is shaped similar to a big sickle and can be effectively used to reach around an opponent’s shield and stab them in vital areas, such as the kidneys or lungs. The blade is about 40 inches long. It closely resembles the Afar Gile. The Gile has two cutting edges, while the shotel’s upper edge is unsharpened and sometimes used braced against the swordsman’s shield for strength.
An email to the Osbornes concerning the date changes said, “This often happens in the television world and although the decision is made by the network, not to worry – as networks often do this in order to pick the very best date for the premiere.”
