Two separate Sumpter Township arrests for sex with teenagers

Two separate cases charging adults having sex with young teenagers were brought by Sumpter police with arrests on June 10 and 11.
Melissa Huziak, 20, of Sumpter Township, was arraigned June 10 at 34th District Court in Romulus on one felony count of criminal sexual conduct – third degree.
She waived her preliminary exam before Chief Judge Tina Brooks Green on June 24 and was due for her arraignment on the information at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice on July 1.
She was being held in the Wayne County Jail on a $50,000/10% bond and Judge Green referred her case to Pretrial Services for a bond review.
Huziak was arrested on a warrant after the charge was approved by the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office following an extensive investigation by Sumpter Township Detective/Corporal John Toth.
Huziak is alleged to have had individual sexual encounters with two juvenile males, ages 14 and 15, on separate occasions in and around February of this year.
The investigation started after a complaint to police by the father of the 15-year-old after he learned of a sexual encounter between Huziak and his son.
Robert Charles Zumbro
Robert Charles Zumbro, 34, of Sumpter Township, was arraigned June 12, on three counts of criminal sexual conduct – third degree stemming from an alleged sexual relationship with a juvenile female acquaintance. His preliminary exam was set for July 1 at 34th District Court in Romulus and he is currently being held in the Wayne County Jail on $250,000 bond.
Zumbro was arrested on June 11 following an investigation by Sumpter Township Corporal John Ashby and Det./Cpl. Toth. The case was then submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office who approved the charges. Zumbro is alleged to have had an approximate two-month ongoing sexual relationship with a 14-year-old female that began in April of this year.
The investigation started on June 2 after a complaint to the department by the juvenile’s mother upon her learning of the sexual encounters between Zumbro and her daughter.
Criminal sexual conduct in the third degree is a felony punishable by imprisonment for not more than 15 years.
A person is guilty of criminal sexual conduct in the third degree if the person engages in sexual penetration with another person and if that other person is at least 13 years of age and under 16 years of age.
