The Sumpter Township Parks and Recreation Commission will hold its 2013 Cutest Baby Boy and Baby Girl Contest on Memorial Day week end, May 24-27, as part of the annual Sumpter Country Fest.
The contest is open to the residents of Sumpter and neighboring communities and babies from newborn through age three are eligible.
To enter a child, submit a picture up to 5×7” in size with an application form to Sumpter Township Hall, Attn: Baby Contest, 23480 Sumpter Road, Belleville, MI 48111, (734) 461-6201. Participants are asked to get their pictures and applications in as soon as possible and no later than May 20.
Application forms are available at the township hall and at numerous places of business throughout the area, including the Belleville-Area Independent at 152 Main St., Suite 9, Belleville.
If you have questions about the contest or would like an application form mailed to you, call chairwoman Joanne Posegay at (734) 697-0639.
Pictures will be displayed in the festival pavilion during the festival and winners will be determined by the total points collected. A $1 donation to the Sumpter Township Parks and Recreation Commission will equal 10 points. The contest ends at 1:30 p.m. Monday, May 27. Winners will be announced at 4:30 p.m. at the pavilion.
Trophies and prizes will be awarded to the first-, second-, and third-place winners in the boys’ and girls’ categories. A trophy also will be presented along with a studio certificate for the most “Photogenic Baby” chosen by Photography by Shannon of Belleville.
A trophy cup will be presented to the baby chosen “Cutie Pie” of 2013. Each of the entrants will receive a ribbon for participation and a toy stuffie.
“Whether you are at the festival to support your favorite baby picture or just want to visit our contest display, please stop by and say, “Hello,” Posegay said.
