The three air conditioning units at Sumpter Township Hall failed in this week’s high temperatures and now all three are being replaced.
Sumpter Finance Director Scott Holtz told the board on Tuesday that the three AC units have broken down and are not repairable. Also, the current furnaces are 15 years old and additional work would need to be completed to make the air conditioning work with the current air handling system.
The board approved three new AC units and three new furnaces, plus any additional parts and labor at a cost of $18,718.
This item was not budgeted and so there will have to be a transfer from the landfill royalty account to fund this expense, which was approved by the board.
