Sumpter Township Trustee William Hamm died early this morning, Oct. 16, at his home. Trustee Hamm was recovering from Oct. 13 back surgery and returned home from the hospital on Thursday, Oct. 15.
When his wife Chris tried to wake him to take his medication at about 2:30 a.m., she was unable to rouse him and began CPR.
Both Trustee Hamm and his wife Chris are members of the Sumpter Township Fire Department.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. David C. Brown Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
