Sumpter Township resident Sheryl Karain was seriously injured when the motorcycle she was driving westbound on Bemis Road collided with an eastbound car turning north on Elwell at about 10:30 p.m. Sunday.
Van Buren Township Lt. Kenneth Floro said James Bullock, a Tennessee resident driving a Chevrolet Impala, was turning north when the two collided. Bullock did not suffer any injuries and was released at the scene, Lt. Floro said.
Karain was treated by VBT fire fighters and Huron Valley Ambulance paramedics and transported to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in serious condition. She was treated for multiple injuries.
Lt. Floro said alcohol does not appear to be a factor and the accident remains under investigation. Anyone having information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Kenneth Toney at the VBT Police Department, (734) 699-8937.
