Dauwan Smith, 54, who was arrested by the Michigan State Police on I-94 near Rawsonville Road as he rode as a passenger in a U-Haul carrying a cut-up, stolen F-150, has been sentenced to jail and an extended probation.
On July 22, Smith agreed to a plea deal on new charges of receiving and concealing a motor vehicle before Circuit Court Judge Deborah A. Thomas. He also had his probation extended because he hadn’t finished his probation from his last stolen car conviction.
Judge Thomas sentenced him to 12 months in the Wayne County Jail, starting July 22, and probation was extended. Instead of ending Nov. 9, 2014, probation will go until July 22, 2016.
