Postal workers’ food drive for the hungry

The National Association of Letter Carriers’ Food drive is Saturday, May 14, and local residents may participate by placing food for the hungry next to their mail boxes.
The mail carriers will pick up the food when they drop off your mail.
The donations in the Belleville, Sumpter, and Van Buren Township areas will go to stock the shelves at the Food Closet at First United Methodist Church of Belleville.
The donations should be non-expired/non-perishable food and personal care items.
Suggested items:
Canned fruits and vegetables, cereal/oatmeal, Hamburger Helper, tuna fish/chicken, boxed pasta and potatoes, mac & cheese, spaghetti sauce, pancake mix, syrup, baking mix, chili/corned beef hash, dessert mixes, dish soap, body soap, detergent, cleaning products, feminine hygiene items, baby items, shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, toilet paper, shaving items.

The letter carriers in Plymouth and Plymouth Township will stock the shelves at The Salvation Army Plymouth Senior Services. The letter carriers in Canton Township stock the shelves at The Salvation Army. The donations in Northville and Northville Township will go to the Northville Civic Concern.
