Matyson Vlademar, daughter of Michael and Andrea Vlademar of Van Buren Township, is the recipient of a four-year Air Force ROTC scholarship, which she will use to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
Matyson is a graduate of Bethany Bible School, Keystone Academy, and attended four years at Ladywood High School in Livonia, recently graduating with highest honors. She lettered in soccer, track, and cross country and was a finalist for a scholar athlete award, yet to be announced.
Since Ladywood is closing its doors, Matyson was part of the school’s last graduating class.
More than 8,600 students across the U.S. applied for the USAF ROTC scholarship, with only 20% receiving a scholarship offer after completing the application process and interview.
Matyson’s scholarship includes full college tuition, book allowance, and a monthly stipend. At the University of Nebraska she will begin her studies to become a physician.
She will receive an officer’s commission in the USAF after completion of the ROTC program.
