The CLM Team, made up of Washtenaw International High School sophomores Maria Kasperek, Celeste Knapp, and Lauren Kim, won the 2018 Model Entrepreneur competition in Santa Clara, CA.
The CLM Team developed a proposal for Trekk, an App to link tourists to local tour guides, based on compatibility. Team CLM received $1,500 and each member received a $3,000 scholarship to attend a summer program at Harvard, Columbia, Stanford, Caltech, Berklee or Pratt. CLM is the first team from Michigan to enter the competition.
Model Entrepreneur is a global competition hosted by Columbia Business School’s Venture for All Program, with the goal to encourage young talents to stand out from pure imagination and speak out innovative ideas with business feasibility.
Maria is the daughter of Martin and Vikki Kasperek of Sumpter Township, the granddaughter of Carol Kasperek and niece of Michael and Deanne Kasperek, all of Van Buren Township, as well as the granddaughter of Norman and Sylvia Moore of Dearborn.
Washtenaw International High School is located in Ypsilanti.
