The Belleville Area Lions Club, in conjunction with the Connection Church, invites the public to its inaugural, gala charity/donation-only Corn Roast and Car Show.
The event will be on Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning at 8 a.m., the set up time for the car show. Connection Church is at 3855 Sheldon Road in Canton Township. The main events are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Car show participants are asked to enter from West Michigan Ave. and to look for the firetruck and the giant golf ball (radar tower). The show will be located on the main parking lot. Participants have been asked to respond by Aug. 20. They will be able to accommodate 150 cars on the lot and after that they may need to park on the other side of the church grounds on the grassy area.
The church grounds have a grassy area with a water fixture and pond area. The grassy area next to the car show is a good site for canopies and lawn chairs.
For more information, call Keith McDonald, membership chairman for the Belleville Area Lions Club, at (734) 697-0796. Or, email him at [email protected] . This is a charity/donation-only event, so there is no set amount.
The Connection Church annually holds its picnic and corn roast and this year it is working with the Lions Club who will provide the food.
Besides all-you-can-eat roasted corn, the menu includes hot dogs, baked beans, watermelon, ice cream, cotton candy, snow cones and a beverage. These will provided without charge, but the Lions will ask for a free-will donation to assist the charities the Lions support.
The event also will feature:
• Canton Concert Band, official band of the Village Theater;
• Ear Center Audiology will check for hearing deficiency;
• Eversight, formerly Michigan Eye Bank, will tell about cornea transplant;
• Face painting and a balloon twister for the kids;
