A 7 p.m. meeting at the library has been set for Thursday, May 1, by the Belleville Area District Library Board to announce the latest information on the DNR lakeside property, the proposed site for a new library.
At a special meeting Tuesday in Sumpter Township the board passed all the legal paperwork necessary to put the library’s bond issue and operating millage on the Aug. 5 ballot – both for 20 years.
Tax proposals are for 1.08 mills the first year for the bond and 1.0 additional mill for the operating expenses – that is in addition to the 0.7 mill taxpayers already pay for operation of the present library.
