The Kids Praise and Worship Team, made up of youngsters in first through sixth grades who attend Redemption Bible Church in Belleville entertained the residents of Cedar Woods on July 28.
Team members met each Monday throughout the summer to learn praise and worship songs using keyboards, drums, recorders, a ukulele, guitar, and bells.
The team visited Cedar Woods assisted living center in Van Buren Township to share their faith through worship songs, scripture, and meaningful conversations with the residents.
As a special gift, the team also painted prayer rocks and presented them to residents along with a gospel-centered “Prayer Rock” poem.
The program included worship songs such as “Your Way’s Better” (Forest Frank), “Trust and Obey” (J. Sammis), and “You Are My All in All” (D. Jernigan).
In addition to music, kids recited from memory the books of both the Old and New Testaments, along with their theme verse: “Come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.” — Psalms 95:1
The hope of the Kids Praise and Worship Team music ministry was for kids to experience the joy of serving God by using their talents to bless others. The visit to Cedar Woods was an example of this hope in action — encouragement, smiles, and the love of Jesus were joyfully exchanged between both kids and residents.
Redemption Bible Church rents space to meet at the First United Methodist Church in Belleville. Pastor Garrett Nimmo is lead pastor and Nathan Brown is youth pastor.
