Jim and Kathy Farr will celebrate the 50th anniversary of their May 2, 1969 wedding at Belleville First United Methodist Church. Kathy Malkowski, a Riverview graduate, met Jim Farr from Belleville at a car-hop restaurant in Romulus.
After marrying they moved to Ypsilanti and returned to Sumpter Township in 1976 with three sons and a daughter in tow: Ronn, Kevin, Keith and Karen. Jim sang and played guitar in various country bands while working at Draw-Tite for 38 years and Kathy was a stay-at-home mom whose jobs included, full-time caretaker, financial planner, cook, chauffeur, and housekeeper. Jim retired in 2002, and continued to work as a shuttle bus driver for Metro Airport until 2012.
With five grandchildren, today you can find both still caretaking and performing routinely while visiting residents at Cedar Woods Assisted Living. They are also active members of Willow United Methodist Church in New Boston and love watching sports and Hallmark channels together.
