Julien’s Garden, a Monarch Butterfly Way Station Garden, will be dedicated at 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, behind Savage Elementary School.
The garden is in honor of Julien Vanderlinden, who was murdered with other members of his family last August in Van Buren Township and would have been a second grader at Savage this year. May 21 would have been Julien’s eighth birthday.
Julien liked science, so it is believed he would be happy that his friends and other Savage Superstars will be able to use this garden to study the life cycle of the butterfly for years to come. The public is welcome to attend the short dedication ceremony, which will include performances by some of Julien’s schoolmates.
