Judge Parrott binds Chapman over to circuit court

James Forrest Chapman, 56, of Belleville was bound over to circuit court to face charges of obstructing a police officer and failure to give a DNA sample after an incident June 3 on Alba Court in Van Buren Township.
Chapman waived his scheduled preliminary exam on June 22 and 34th District Court Judge David Parrott told Chapman he is scheduled to appear at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice in Detroit at 9 a.m., July 6, for arraignment on the information.
David Langford is Chapman’s court-appointed attorney and VBT Detective Mark Buxton is the officer in charge.
Chapman was free after posting his bond of $2,000/10% and dealing with a violation of probation charge at circuit court. Chapman also is charged as a habitual offender, which will increase any penalties levied.
The Alba Court incident grew from Chapman visiting his friend’s home and getting into a dispute with the friend. It ended up with, first, the friend and then Chapman calling 911 and the police responding. Chapman ended up in Belleville Lake and his former defense attorney John Day brought him dry clothes in the VBT lockup.
Jon Allen Colombo
Jon Allen Colombo’s probable cause conference was adjourned until July 6 and his preliminary exam until July 13 on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated – third time. The incident allegedly occurred on May 10, 2015 in VBT. Colombo, 60, was out on $5,000 personal recognizance bond. Elizabeth Young is his court-appointed attorney and VBT Det. Mark Buxton is the officer in charge.
Michael Lynn Stoker
Michael Lynn Stoker’s probable cause conference was adjourned until July 27 on charges of operating while intoxicated – third times, driving while license suspended, and driving with open intoxicants on May 1 in VBT. Stoker, 55, was free after posting bond of $5,000/10%. Barry Resnick is his retained attorney and VBT Det. Donovan McCarthy is the officer in charge.
