Eric Osaer of Sumpter Township has committed to helping with a project at Cincinnati Hospital, where he travels for treatment. He met a girl named Emily there and she has started Emily’s Happy Feet with a goal of distributing 11,000 pairs of slippers to children in hospitals.
Eric took on responsibility for Michigan distribution of slippers and will make their first distribution on Thanksgiving at Ronald McDonald House in Ann Arbor.
Eric and Critter Club 4-H will be at the Abbott Building at the Wayne County Fairgrounds on Quirk Road from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 13, to accept donations of new slippers with tags or in boxes. Sizes needed are from infant to adult, which is the size teenagers’ wear. Especially needed are slippers for teenage boys.
Eric’s mother Rene Osaer said volunteers could be used to help with the collection on Nov. 13 and maybe donate the thin ribbons used to tie the slippers together. For more information, call (734) 740-4039.
