A Grief Support/Seminar begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, and runs every Thursday through January at Romulus Wesleyan Church, 37300 Goddard at Huron River Drive, Romulus 48174, (734) 941-1511.
This non-denominational program features 13 individual lessons that focus on grief topics associated with the death of a loved one.
The internationally-recognized seminar features DVDs of nationally respected grief experts and real-life stories of people who have learned from their journey of grief, followed by small-group discussion.
Many grieving people find they are only beginning the work of healing when friends or family have returned to the routine of daily life.
Your bereavement experience may be recent or not so recent. Time does not heal all wounds. You will find encouragement, comfort and help in grieving the death of a family member or friend.
No matter what the cause of your loved one’s death, this is an opportunity to be around people who have an understanding of what you are feeling.
In the lessons, you will learn that you do not need to live in bondage to certain emotions, how to recognize the symptoms of being stuck in grief, facing your “new normal” in life, renewing your hope for the future, and more. Grief-related handouts will be available each week. Registration fee is $15, which will include a workbook/journal that is used in conjunction with the weekly DVDs.
