Now that the absentee ballots are out, people are marking their ballots. Some voters filled them out immediately and others are waiting for more information.
Some want to go to the polls, wait in line, and put those ballots into the counters with their own hands.
We finally have the information to offer on the eight people running for four positions on the Van Buren Public Schools Board of Education.
Two are incumbents, two are former board members, and four make up a slate of newcomers wanting to turn the board around together. Four is a majority on a seven-member board, so four voting together could change a lot of things.
But, now that we’ve got a superintendent who actually listens to people, takes notes, and works to change things, that should really help to improve the atmosphere.
For instance, there have been a few problems in the transportation department recently and Supt. Kudlak is working to solve those problems. It is contract negotiation time, as well, for that department.
There is a severe lack of bus drivers and Supt. Kudlak said there are some days when everyone in the district with a CDL is driving a bus. This, too, will pass.

That’s a bit of a shame that some candidate stories won’t be published for a couple weeks, especially for those who like to submit their ballots early in the process.
They are mostly unopposed candidates. We have so many candidates and so little room — if we want to have some news in the paper as well.
