Alec Nicholas Thieman, 28, of Delta, Ohio, was arraigned on June 14 by 34th District Court Magistrate Al Hindman via zoom while in Michigan State Police custody on seven charges in the freeway shooting of a vehicle driven by a 46-year-old man from Romulus.
Thieman is employed by the Transportation Security Administration.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, June 12, at 6:40 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the I-275 freeway near Pennsylvania Road in Huron Township. Thieman allegedly produced and shot a gun, hitting the vehicle, but not the driver.
After the shooting, Thieman and the victim both drove to the Romulus Police Department where Michigan State Police were called to investigate the shooting, according to police.
Thieman is charged with assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, felonious assault, reckless driving, commission of a felony with a motor vehicle, and three counts of felony firearm.
Magistrate Hindman levied a $250,000 cash bond and set the probable cause conference for June 26.
