Ralph Rosas, 28, after four days of trial was found guilty by a jury of Assault to Do Great Bodily Harm Less Than Murder and Armed Robbery, for the Sumpter Roller Rink incidents last Halloween.
He was found not guilty of Assault with Intent to Murder and a charge of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon was dismissed.
His sentencing is set for Oct. 30 before Judge Craig S. Strong, almost a year to the day after the stabbing and gunplay at Sumpter Roller Rink.
Rosas’ retained attorney Alan Crawford had asked District Judge Tina Brooks Green, who presided over Rosas’ preliminary exam July 15, to reduce his client’s $500,000 or 10% bond, set by Judge Brian Oakley at his arraignment. He said his client, who works full time and lives in Saginaw, could wear a tether. Judge Green referred the bond situation to pretrial services at circuit court.
Circuit Court Judge Strong reviewed that bond recommendation and then raised Rosas’ bond to $750,000 cash or surety. Rosas has been in jail since his arrest on June 22.
A jury trial began Oct. 5 at the Frank Murphy Hall of Justice and ended Oct. 9. The case was then referred to the probation department for a pre-sentence report.
Two other men who participated in the Halloween stabbing and gunplay in Sumpter are still at large.
