Court Watching: Judge sets Jan. 7 jury trial for VBT mother who shot her son

Diane Letice Orr, 43, of Van Buren Township had her arraignment on the information at Wayne County Circuit Court on Sept. 24, when a judge set her jury trial for Jan. 7.
Orr is charged with second-degree murder and felony firearm in the Sept. 5 shooting death of her son, Renard Lumpik, 23, of VBT.
Judge Timothy M. Kelly read the charges against Orr and then set her final conference for 9 a.m., Nov. 12, and her trial after the first of the year.
Orr is free after posting $25,000 or 10% bond which was set on Sept. 17 by 34th District Court Judge Brian A. Oakley. After the shooting on Sept. 5, Orr had been jailed without bond.
