Kalin Christian Karvelis, 25, of Huron Township will have his probable cause conference on April 5 at 34th District Court to face charges for the Feb. 26 murder of his mother and attempted murder of his father in Huron Township.
Karvelis, who remains in the Wayne County Jail without bond, was due for his probable cause conference on March 10, but defense attorney Blasé Kearney of the Neighborhood Defender Service said he still needed the video from the body-worn cameras of police. He said he had the paper discovery, but it will take time to go over the video once he gets it.
Karvelis is charged with first-degree, premediated murder, assault with intent to murder, and two counts of felony firearm.
He also is charged with fleeing a police officer/third degree on June 6, 2020.
Special Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor is William Lawrence for the homicide and Assistant Prosecutor Jane Gillis for the fleeing and eluding charge.
