Betty and Ray Fleming celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at Waltonwood Cherry Hill in Canton on Saturday. Waltonwood catered a light luncheon which was attended by 80 close friends and family.
Ray Fleming married Betty McKelvey at Denton Methodist Church in Belleville, MI, on April 23, 1954. The newlyweds made their first home in Newport, RI, where Ray was stationed during his years in the Navy. At the completion of his service with the Navy, Ray and Betty moved back to the metro Detroit area where Ray began his career as a tool and die maker for the Ford Motor Company. The couple moved to Belleville in 1967 and continued to make that their home until last year, when they moved to Canton.
They have four children and eight grandchildren, all of whom were in attendance at the anniversary party, with the exception of one grandson who lives in Edinburgh, Scotland, and could not be present for the party. They are awaiting the arrival of their first great-grandchild who is due in September.
