Paul Cischke of Sumpter Township is fighting Stage 3 esophageal cancer and the medical bills and expenses are rising.
Friends are hosting a benefit spaghetti dinner to help from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 20, at the Belleville Moose Lodge, at the corner of Sumpter and Harris roads.
Cischke is receiving radiation treatments five days a week and chemotherapy once a week. He has been cutting lawns, but he cannot work during this time.
On Oct. 20, they will be serving spaghetti and meatballs, salad, rolls, and dessert. A cash bar will be available with soft drinks, water, and adult beverages. There also will be a 50/50 raffle and a Chinese auction for gift baskets.
“Any and all donations are appreciated,” said Iris Leahy, a neighbor on Willis Road, who is organizing the fund raiser, with her daughter-in-law Cyndi, 752-5071.
