Jesse Yates of Belleville has been fighting Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma since he was diagnosed in 2010 at the age of 19.
After four years of treatment, now, at age 24, he is facing an Allo Transplant, which is cells donated by an un-related donor, which comes with a lot of possible complications.
The family is told by doctors at the University of Michigan Hospitals that this is his only chance for a cure and without this he would live only two more years.
Friends and family are holding a spaghetti dinner and silent auction from 1 to 6 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Moose Lodge at 5506 Stoney Creek Road, Ypsilanti, to raise money to help with medical and home expenses for Jesse.
Neither Jesse nor his wife Katie can work during this time and after the transplant he will be in recovery for a year or more and Katie needs to be home with him as his caregiver.
During his fight for life he has received several chemotherapy and radiation regimens, as well as a bone marrow transplant. In December he was put on the latest treatment, but shortly after beginning it, tumors began to grow.
For more information, call Katie Yates at (734) 672-0514.
