At the Jan. 27 regular meeting of the Belleville City Council, Mayor Kerreen Conley presented a plaque to retiring Police Chief Hal Berriman. His dates of service were listed on the plaque as 1995-1999, 2012-2013, and 2014-2020.
“When I started in 1961, I never thought I’d still be running around now with a badge and gun,” Chief Berriman said.
Mayor Conley said he is the best police chief the city has had.
Berriman thanked his “two favorite bosses,” Mayor Conley and City Manager Diana Kollmeyer. Berriman’s last day is Jan. 31.
