Head Coach Dave Martin reports that in dual head-to-head matches, the Belleville High School Men’s Golf Team was 7-4, good for sixth place in the Western Wayne Athletic Conference.
The junior-laden team fought hard, but fell short of advancing to regionals. Junior Ryan York did qualify for Individuals at regionals by carding an 80 at districts.
All returning juniors — Austin Marsnick, Anthony Guthrie, Cameron Johnson, Brandon Baker, Tyler Osborne, and Ryan York — earned Varsity letters. Newcomer Cody Springer earned his first Varsity Golf letter. Several freshmen and sophomores earned J.V. pins.
At the Tuesday night banquet, Coach Martin handed out additional rewards: Most Improved – Ryan York; Captains Cameron Johnson and Tyler Osborne; and All-Academic – Anthony Guthrie and Tyler Osborne.
Coach Martin and Assistant Coach Doc Williams are looking forward to next year when, they say, the team should be stronger.
