During a session that lasted from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Oct. 4, the Belleville Civil Service Commission interviewed eight candidates and selected four finalists for the position of payroll / building clerk.
City Manager Diana Kollmeyer said the CSC stipulated each of the four should be offered the position in turn, based on her place on the list, until one accepts.
Kollmeyer said she is offering the position to Meagan Gallagher, who was first on the list.
Second was Kim Tindall (a city councilwoman), third was Karin Tyler, and fourth was Sarah Kovalak.
Kollmeyer said the procedure is for her to hire the employee and it does not need to go before the city council for approval.
She said just two members of the CSC were present for the interviews: Chairman Douglas Dalton and Jacqueline Schank-Ulch. The third member of the CSC, Monique D. Gary, who was appointed the night before the CSC meeting, was not present. Kollmeyer said Gary works for the City of Detroit and while her schedule is flexible she was not able to attend the meeting on the morning after her appointment.
