On Saturday, Dec. 13, the Belleville Community Chorus will present its annual winter concert, “Snowflakes and Stars,” which this year will include the premiere performance of a piece commissioned for the chorus.
“Midsummer’s Carol,” written by Paul Friesen-Carper, has words written by chorus member Joy Burnett. The challenging work depicts the transition from summer’s dreams to winter’s hopes through the year.
Friesen-Carper is a renowned songwriter / musical director from Macomb County, especially commissioned to create this piece for Belleville Community Chorus.
The performance is at 7 p.m. in the Belleville United Methodist Church, 417 Charles Street. Director is Sue Hiser and accompanist is Paul Bowling.
The concert will feature seasonal and holidays songs.
The concert also includes numbers by the Belleville Community Children’s Chorus and Teen Ensemble.
As always, the concert is free, although donations supporting the chorus are invited and welcomed.
