Riggs Park solar-powered restroom building on Martinsville Road between East Huron River Drive and Savage Road in Van Buren Township has been vandalized, apparently with landscaping rocks thrown at the glass window blocks at the rear of the building.
Matthew Best, VBT director of public services, said April 10 that the township has lined up a contractor to do the repair work on the glass windows.
Riggs Park is the site of the end of Van Buren Township’s first link of the state’s Iron Belle Trail for hiking and biking. The first township link was approved to run from Edgemont Street in the city of Belleville to Riggs Park. The rest station now is locked up.
