Wacker Chemical Company announces the addition of Audri VanDyke to its Ann Arbor Innovation Center (AIC) team.
Audri VanDyke, from Belleville, is currently pursuing a degree in International Business and Marketing at Eastern Michigan University and is expected to graduate in April 2025.
Company leaders coordinated with HR to select summer interns and prepare assignments for them at the AIC. As part of their training, interns receive coaching and mentoring while they work on meaningful projects and initiatives that will contribute to the company and help interns like VanDyke to gain hands-on experience in the industry.
The internship program began in May with a comprehensive orientation, and VanDyke will be with Wacker through early August.
Interns receive compensation commensurate with their qualifications in the relevant fields and their academic progress and engaged in cutting-edge research and development, benefiting from the state-of-the-art facilities available on the Ann Arbor campus.
The site, spanning 70,000 square meters, houses over 20 technical and analytical laboratories, and is equipped to develop new products and applications.
The research and development work at the AIC focuses on special products for sustainable technologies and applications. From biotechnology to silicones, the projects include skin-sensitive silicone adhesives for wound care and medical devices, energy-efficient silicone-based defoamers and innovative cyclodextrin applications for food supplements.
Wacker is also committed to advancing the circular economy and exploring recycling possibilities for silicones.
“We are excited to welcome Audri VanDyke to our team,” said Ato Taylor, senior director of human resources. “Our internship program provides valuable hands-on experience and mentorship to the next generation of innovators. This opportunity allows interns to apply their academic knowledge in a real-world setting and brings fresh perspectives and ideas to our projects.”
To demonstrate their learning, interns will showcase their summer projects and contributions during an internal panel presentation to finalize their internship in August.
