A black male wearing all black clothing and a ball cap pulled a silver handgun on an employee at the BP gas station at the corner of Ecorse and Haggerty roads on Sunday morning.
Van Buren Township Public Safety Director Gregory Laurain said in the early morning hours a suspect came to the counter to purchase a package of gum and then produced the weapon and demanded cash.
The employee emptied the register and the suspect fled the store with about $1,000 in cash and fled on foot towards the Burger King parking lot and left in an unknown vehicle.
Director Laurain said the suspect is to be considered armed and dangerous and any information on this robbery is to be reported to the VBT Police Detective Bureau at (734) 699-8930.
