Van Buren Township is sponsoring “Street Eats” Quirk Park behind VBT Township Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays Aug. 11 and 25 and Sept. 8 and 22.
The first Van Buren Township “Street Eats” was held July 28 and 29, under the direction of Nicole Sumpter of the VBT Clerk’s Office.
Twisted Rooster was the only local restaurant to participate in that first special lunchtime event and so it was Twisted Rooster’s manager that was invited to be interviewed on Channel 7, along with Matthew Best, deputy director of the VBT planning and economic development department.
Best said the special lunchtime event was first planned for VBT employees and then was expanded to include the whole community. The idea was to include local businesses.
The food at the first event was varied and brought by Twisted Rooster and a variety of other area restaurants.
