Robert Charles Zumbro, 34, of Sumpter Township was sentenced to 4 years, 3 months to 15 years in prison on Sept. 21 after pleading guilty to three counts of criminal sexual conduct with a 14 year-old female acquaintance that began in April.
Sentencing him was Wayne County Circuit Court Judge Vonda Evans. Zumbro has been in the Wayne County Jail since June 26, held on $250,000/10% bond.
He now is in the Charles Egeler Reception and Guidance Center in Jackson where officials will determine in which prison he will serve his sentence.
Zumbro was arrested on June 11 following an investigation by Sumpter police, which started on June 2 after a complaint to the department by the juvenile’s mother upon her learning of the sexual encounters between Zumbro and her daughter.
Melissa Huziak
Melissa Ashley Huziak, 20, of Sumpter Township, pled guilty to one felony count of criminal sexual conduct – third degree (with a person aged 13-15) and is serving a term of 1-15 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections’ Huron Valley Complex for Women on Bemis Road in Ypsilanti.
She was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Gregory D. Bill on July 23 and was given 44 days credit for time served.
Her earliest release date is June 8, 2016 and the maximum release date is June 8, 2030. Huziak had been held on a $50,000/10% bond in the Wayne County Jail after her arrest in Sumpter Township.
Huziak was alleged to have had individual sexual encounters with two juvenile males, ages 14 and 15, on separate occasions in and around February of this year.
The investigation started after a complaint to police by the father of the 15-year-old after he learned of a sexual encounter between Huziak and his son.
