The following statement was released by AT&T in answer to the Independent’s questions about door-to-door sales.
The newspaper has had several complaints about “fake” AT&T salesmen going door to door. One frightened resident reported police told her AT&T doesn’t go door to door and she said she called AT&T who said the same thing.
AT&T statement
Yes, AT&T does use door-to-door sales agents to see if people are interested in our popular U-verse service when it’s available in their neighborhood. Our authorized door-to-door agents:
1. Wear a visible badge that displays the vendor company name listing them as an “Authorized Solution Provider.” This is displayed in close proximity to AT&T’s logo.
2. Carry a letter from the AT&T local market manager, which is made available upon request from the resident. The letter confirms that the agent is working on behalf of our campaign, their vendor company name and it includes contact information for the AT&T local market manager.
3. Have general AT&T sales collateral.
A consumer who has questions about an AT&T Door-to-Door agent at their door can ask for identification, call our offices at 800-288-2020 to confirm, or simply not answer the door.

I just wish they would observe ‘no soliciting’ signs.
AT&T does contract with companies to solicit their services door to door. I have a “NO SOLICITORS” sign posted at my door, but these solicitors representing AT&T regularly ignore the sign. I have complained directly to AT&T with no results.
I suggest anyone fed up with AT&T cancel their service, and sign up with one of their competitors, and resolve to NEVER do business with AT&T again, as I have done. This may be the only way they’ll get the message, and do something to rectify the situation.
I AM DEVISTATED, BECAUSE I ALLOWED A YOUNG MAN WHO REPRESENTED AT&T TO USE MY BATHROOM AND I BELIEVE HE STOLE A VALUABLE RING. I HAVE FILED A POLICE REPORT.
Stop sending people who are very pushy to my home to sell me something I don’t want please
I wish you would observe the muscle listing sign also. There is zero chance I will do business with any company that comes to my door.
I noticed some pretty scroungy individuals coming to the door and knocking instead of using the door bell next to the door. Non shaved, dirty looking clothes. Young boys and Spectrum has the sane jubd if thing happening. So Bad.
They are back at it again, I have a sign above the doorbell that is very clearly marked for no solicitation.
I had 4 AT&T(?) representives come to my door offering a Apple 16 and $30 per month fee for service. I foolishly (sucker born every day) signed up…into a nightmare. They sent me a text saying I owed them an additional $999.00 for back charges. I am contacting an attorney and reporting them to the Federal Trade Commission.
