On April 18, Gov. Rick Snyder announced the appointments of Carl English of Bingham Farms and Deborah Muchmore of Laingsburg and the reappointment of Tyrone Hamilton of Belleville to the Michigan State Housing Development Authority Board.
The five-member board provides financial and technical assistance through public and private partnerships to create and preserve safe, affordable housing. It also engages community economic development activities, addresses homeless issues and develops vibrant cities, towns and villages.
With the exception of the resident member not more than two of the persons appointed can be from the same political party.
“I appreciate these individuals’ willingness to serve on this important board,” Gov. Snyder said. “They are extremely qualified and will play an integral part in the continued growth of our communities.”
English is retired as the vice chairman of American Electric Power. He will serve as a Republican and replace Anthony Lentych.
Muchmore is vice president of Marketing Resource Group Inc., where she is a specialist in public affairs. She will serve as an Independent and replace Kate Schmid.
Hamilton is the owner of Hamilton Productions where he serves as a disc jockey for weddings and events as well as provides musical therapy for nursing homes. He previously served as a darkroom technician. Hamilton volunteers at the Detroit Medical Center playing music for patients, something he has done for more than 25 years. He will continue to serve as the resident member.
Members serve four-year terms expiring March 10, 2018 and their appointments are subject to the advice and consent of the Senate.
