Alphonso Cooper, Jr., 19, of Romulus, has been charged in the non-fatal shootings of a 17-year-old male of Van Buren Township and a 22-year-old female of Ferndale.
The shooting took place shortly after 10 p.m. on June 23 during the fireworks show in Detroit.
He is charged with two counts of assault with intent to murder, two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, one count of carrying a concealed weapon, and four counts of felony firearm.
Cooper was arraigned July 10 in 36th District Court before Magistrate William Burton and given a $500,000 cash bond with a GPS tether and house arrest.
A bond hearing was scheduled for July 14 before Judge William McConico.
On July 10, the prosecutor’s office filed a new charge against Cooper, larceny from the person on March 13 in Romulus. There also is a bench warrant out for his arrest for not appearing for a July 2 preliminary exam on charges of larceny from the person and using computers to commit a crime (max. imprisonment 10-20 years) on March 18 in Romulus.
