Devin Nickolas Porter
Devin Nickolas Porter, 24, of Detroit was due for his probable cause conference on Jan. 24, 2024 on charges of receiving and concealing a stolen vehicle and unauthorized driving away of an auto on Oct. 21, 2022 in Van Buren Township. The probable cause conference was adjourned to Feb. 7, 2024 for discovery. A live preliminary exam was set for March 20, 2024 and then rescheduled for May 1, 2024. The exam was waived and he was bound over to circuit court for a May 15, 2024 arraignment on the information. Calendar conference was set for June 28 and continued to Sept. 19 and then to Nov. 7, adjourned to Dec. 18. He failed to appear so a warrant was signed for his arrest.
Dennis Michael House
Dennis Michael House, 68, of New Boston, is charged with operating while intoxicated-third and blood alcohol content of .17 or more on Oct. 9, 2021 in Sumpter Township. He was arraigned Nov. 11, 2023 out-county and personal bond set at $10,000. His probable cause conference was set for Nov. 22, and then adjourned to Dec. 20 and then Jan. 10, 2024. The defense attorney told Judge Oakley that his client recently lost his foot.
House, now of Saline, on Jan. 29 was charged with operating with a blood alcohol content of .17 or more and operating while intoxicated on Jan. 13, 2023. He was arraigned on a bench warrant while in custody of Van Buren Township police. Personal bond was set at $5,000. A probable cause conference was set for Feb. 7. Then a probable cause conference was set for Feb. 28.
His earlier Sumpter Township charges also were set for a probable cause conference on Feb. 7 and that also was set for another probable cause conference on Feb. 28.
On Feb. 28, 2024 he waived his exams on both charges and Judge Martin bound him over to circuit court for a March 13 arraignment on the information. A calendar conference was set for March 22. Final conference was April 18 and a jury trial was set for May 1.
On April 18, 2024 he pled guilty to a new charge of operating under the influence and one of the Sumpter charges was dismissed. The jury trial was canceled and sentencing set for May 17 on that case. During a May 17, 2024 pretrial on the Oct. 9, 2021 cases, the charges were dismissed.
His sentence to the new charge of operating under the influence was a fee of $1,998, jail up to 13 months concurrent with the Washtenaw County case, three years of probation, upon release from jail he is to be remanded until pickup by the Salvation Army for in-patient treatment. Local confinement in the Wayne County Jail, credit of 23 days for time served. Also 30 days of community work.
Darien Lynn Long
Darien Lynn Long, 56, of Stone Mountain, GA, is charged with brandishing weapons/firearms in public and two assault or assault and batteries on Oct. 6 in Van Buren Township. He was scheduled for a remote arraignment and pretrial on Feb. 7 which was adjourned until Feb. 14. He failed to appear, so a show-cause hearing was set for Feb. 28.
He was present, waived assistance of an attorney, and pled guilty before Judge Martin to brandishing and one assault/assault & battery charge and the second assault charge was dismissed. The brandishing charge will have a delayed sentence of 12 months and a fine of $100 and the A&B a delayed sentence of four months and a fine of $400. He also was sentenced to take an anger-management class. The charges will be dismissed if he has no further criminal charges in the state of Michigan during the delayed periods. Judge Martin called it “a global agreement.”
Daniel Lee Timpf
Daniel Lee Timpf, 37, of Dearborn Heights is charged with retail fraud on May 2, 2022 in Van Buren Township. He was scheduled for his remote arraignment / pretrial on Feb. 7, 2024. He failed to appear and a show-cause hearing was set for March 20. He failed to appear again. On March 27 a bench warrant was signed. On May 9 he called about the warrant and was told how to deal with the charges.
On May 22, he was charged with retail fraud and driving while license suspended on May 6 in Van Buren Township. He was set for arraignment/pretrial on those charges on June 20. He failed to appear so a show-cause arraignment/pretrial was set for July 18, 2024. He failed to appear and a warrant was signed.
Anthony Amelio Castellani, Jr.
Anthony Amelio Castellani, Jr., 45, of Van Buren Township, was charged with aggravated domestic violence and malicious destruction of property on Jan. 29 in Van Buren Township. His pretrial was set for Feb. 7 and then for March 6. Personal bond was $5,000.
On March 6, the defendant pled guilty to a reduced charge of assault and battery. He was fined $985 and put on six months of probation and a delayed sentence. If there are no further problems the charge will be dismissed.
Andre Lovell Crittendon
Andre Lovell Crittendon, 21, of Sumpter Township, is charged with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence-3rd offense notice, and interfering with a crime report on Dec. 11 in Sumpter Township. His preliminary exam was Feb. 7 which was adjourned to Feb. 14. He was being held on $300,000 cash bond in the Wayne County Jail.
On Feb. 14, the defendant’s mother called to say she talked to the officers at the jail and he was not on the docket and they would not be bringing him to the courthouse that day. The exam was conducted and Judge Green dismissed the charges.
Grayling Jerome Regains
Grayling Jerome Regains, 63, of Van Buren Township, was video-arraigned on a bench warrant while in custody of Van Buren Township police on Dec. 18 on a charge of possession of narcotic or cocaine less than 25 grams on July 18 in Van Buren Township. Personal bond of $1,000 was set by Judge Oakley and his probable cause conference set for Jan. 3. The preliminary exam was set for Feb. 7. A probable cause conference was held on Feb. 7 and the defendant waived the preliminary exam and was bound over to circuit court for a Feb. 21 arraignment on the information. Calendar conference was Feb. 28 and final conference March 29, when he pled guilty. Sentencing was May 3, reset to May 13. He was sentenced to total fees of $298 and two years of probation.
He also was arraigned on bench warrants on the Oct. 13, 2020 charges by the Michigan State Police for no insurance and open intoxicant. Remote pretrials on those charges were also set for Jan. 3. The no insurance charge and open intoxicant charges were dropped and he pled guilty to double parking, with a fine of $205.
