Utah State University football player Andre Seldon Jr., 22, a former Belleville High School athlete who played at the University of Michigan and New Mexico State University for two years each, died July 20 in an apparent cliff-diving accident.
He was due to begin his fifth year of college football at Utah State in 2024.
Cache County Sheriff’s Office said the young man was seen diving from cliffs at Porcupine Reservoir and did not resurface. He was found by the Utah Department of Public Safety dive team later that evening.
As a senior in 2019, he led the BHS Tigers to conference, district and regional championships and a spot in the MHSAA Division 1 state semifinals. Seldon committed to Michigan, where he was a two-year letterman and an Academic All-Big Ten honoree in 2021.
This week a memorial service was held at Northwestern High School footfall field in Detroit.
Andre was born May 15, 2002.
