Moon Star Express, 309 Main St., Belleville, will be participating in the Teal Pumpkin Project for Halloween Trick or Treating in downtown Belleville on Oct. 29 and invites the community to join in.
Putting a teal pumpkin on your doorstep means you have non-food treats available, such as glow sticks or small toys. This simple act promotes inclusion for trick-or-treaters with food allergies or other conditions.
The Teal Pumpkin Project was inspired by a local awareness activity run by the Food Allergy Community of East Tennessee (FACET).
Halloween can be a tricky time for families managing food allergies. Many traditional Halloween treats aren’t safe for children with life-threatening food allergies.
People can still pass out candy, but they can keep the experience safe by keeping the food treats and non-treats in separate bowls.
