A story that begins on the front page of the June 24 edition of the Independent tells some of the background of Sumpter Township’s new treasurer Vincent Warren. Among other things, the story said he was one of nine applicants who applied to fill a vacant seat for two months on the Van Buren Public Schools Board of Education. Vincent said that is incorrect. It was his cousin Larry Warren who applied for that seat. Also, Vincent said he now is quartermaster of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 4434. We had reported he was a trustee. We regret the errors and thank Vincent for calling us so we can get it right.
