On April 30, Congresswoman Debbie Dingell, MI-12, announced $131,643 in federal Land and Water Conservation Fund grant funding for the development of an accessible nature trail and other amenities at Oakwoods Metropark in New Boston. This funding is part of the LWCF State and Local Assistance Program which helps to build and protect parks outside of national park boundaries.
“Access to community park amenities and trails needs to be equitable,” said Rep. Dingell. “Michiganders should be able to enjoy our state’s great parks and other nature spaces regardless of physical limitations. With this federal funding, we will ensure that all New Boston residents and Oakwoods visitors can properly access the park and participate in recreational activities.
